Unconscious Bias is a comprehensive professional development course designed for everyone in the modern workplace. It presents a fundamentally constructive understanding of bias — not as a personal moral failing or a matter of bad intentions, but as a natural feature of how the human brain makes sense of a complex world: a system of mental shortcuts that operate beneath conscious awareness, shaping the judgements and decisions we make every day. Far from a cause for blame, bias becomes something we can recognise, interrogate, and actively interrupt.
The course integrates cognitive science, behavioural research, and the UK legal framework — including the Equality Act 2010 and the Worker Protection Act 2023 — to create a coherent, evidence-based approach to building genuinely inclusive organisations. It takes participants beyond traditional awareness training, revealing not only how bias shows up between individuals, but how it becomes embedded in systems, structures, and everyday working patterns. Through memorable, practical frameworks for interrupting bias and acting as an effective bystander, learners move from understanding to action — equipping themselves, and their organisations, to take the reasonable and meaningful steps that genuine inclusion demands.
